Humane Society HPE Hosts Virtual Kitten Shower

...Like a baby shower, but for kittens!

Belleville, ON – Humane Society Hastings Prince Edward is hosting a virtual Kitten Shower to help equip them for everything they need to welcome kittens into their care this Spring and Summer.

With the warmer weather comes an uptick in pregnant cats and litters of kittens entering the shelter system. Through May to August, we’ll experience our annual peak of kitten intakes: many pregnant cats, mothers with nursing kittens, and unweaned kittens with no mother will be coming into our care. As the kittens will be too young to stay here in the shelter, we’ll be relying on a dedicated team of foster families to help us keep these little ones healthy and happy.

Taking care of orphaned kittens is no easy feat: it means a rigorous bottle-feeding schedule, persistent and detailed monitoring, and tons of love and patience. This is a resource- and labour-demanding time of the year for the shelter and our foster families.

To help us prepare for the influx of little ones, we are hosting a virtual Kitten Shower to help bring in the supplies we’ll need throughout the summer months to set our fosters up for success.

From now until April 5th, contribute to the care of our community's kittens by supporting us with a gift from our Kitten Shower Registry, becoming a foster caregiver, or contributing a monetary donation to the cause.
