Surrendering Your Pet
Making the decision to surrender a beloved pet is never easy. We understand that this choice often comes after a great deal of thought, emotion, and concern for your animal's future. Whatever circumstances have led you here, please know that you are not alone.

At the Humane Society Hastings Prince Edward, we believe that the bond between people and animals is built on love and compassion. Sometimes, choosing to surrender a pet is the most responsible and caring decision that can be made. While every situation is unique, our shared priority is always the same: the health, safety, and well-being of the animal.

If you are considering surrendering your pet because you are struggling to afford pet food, we encourage you to explore our Pet Food Bank before making a final decision. We know that financial hardship can happen to anyone, and needing a little extra support does not reflect the love or care you have for your pet. Our Pet Food Bank exists to help keep people and pets together during difficult times whenever possible. You can learn more by click / tapping the button below.

When a pet is surrendered to our care, our team works to ensure they receive the support, attention, and opportunities they need to find a loving new home. To provide the best possible care for every animal in our shelter, surrender appointments may be subject to a waitlist depending on current shelter capacity and the needs of animals already in our care.

If you need to surrender a pet, please download and complete the Pet Surrender Form available on this page and email the completed form to our team at hshpe@humanesocietyhpe.ca. Once received, we will review the information and contact you regarding next steps and current availability.

Thank you for putting your animal's welfare first. Together, we can help ensure they receive the care and future they deserve.
