Volunteers play a vital role in the operations of HSHPE and we are always on the lookout for local residents looking to contribute their time, energy and love.
We’d love to have you join us. We are looking for all kinds of people for all kinds of jobs, from dog walkers to special events organizers, TV bingo phone & computer operators, fundraisers to rabbit whisperers. Flexible scheduling to suit you.
Please note: applicants will be contacted in the fall with regards to attending an orientation class. We’re currently catching up on applications already submitted.

Community volunteers play a vital role in animals care and fundraising at Humane Society Hastings Prince Edward. When staff have this vital help it grants the opportunity to spend more time with each animal, ensuring their stay is as comfortable as possible. This reduces stress, improves health, and the overall experience. If you’re interested and have some time and love to spare, we’d love to chat with you. Not an animal expert? No problem – full training and support is provided.
The Volunteer Application Process
After you submit an application, it will be reviewed by our Volunteer Programs Coordinator. Once approved you’ll be contacted to attend an orientation session, which takes approximately 1.5 hours. After your training, you’ll be able to access our online volunteer forum-Here2Volunteer and can sign up for shifts whenever your schedule allows.
